Through
this CD-ROM, I hope to help you discover a different, more sensitive approach
to riding, one based on harmony and communication with the horse. To attain
this, you must have a precise image of yourself, your horse, and what is
happening -- improve your position, your effectiveness, be able to control
and plan all your movements... with the aid of your personal “inner video
camera”. No matter what a rider’s level may be, they all should have a series
of mental reference points. Because of the wealth of its possibilities,
a multimedia tool is a wonderful way to create these images. When you are
on your horse, what you have seen and heard using the CD-ROM will remain
in your mind to help you feel and understand what’s going on and what you
should do. I am sure you have already realized that a horse and its rider
form a whole. But realizing this can only be truly helpful if the rider
is capable of thinking and acting in harmony with the horse. The success
of their relationship is built on a solid foundation of confidence and mutual
respect.“ People have often asked me what advice I would give to a young
rider. And I have always answered, “Work, patience, and analysis of what
is wrong and what is right.” Today, I would say that the most important
thing is love of the horse, above all else. This love will give you a wealth
of enjoyment. My father gave me my love of horses, and good riding instructors
are also able to transmit this love. So, stand back and analyze your own
behavior, look at your own progress as an individual, instead of always
comparing yourself to how other riders are doing. This will help you understand
your horse’s reactions and improve your riding. If you can solve your problems
with love and respect for the horse, there is no reason why you cannot be
come a good rider.
